The Howard Hotel

"The most discreet 5-star hotel in Edinburgh."

The Howard is an exclusive retreat in the centre of Georgian Edinburgh; a small hotel where you are treated as a guest in a private home.

Providing the highest level of personal service is central to the Howard's ideal of hospitality. From the moment you arrive your dedicated butler will attend to your every need; from unpacking your bags and serving afternoon tea in the Drawing Room, to serving dinner in your suite, and helping organise your social itinerary.

You may dine in the Atholl Dining Room which has unique wall paintings dating from the early 1800's. Dinner is meticulously prepared by the hotel's dedicated team of chefs and, if you wish, can be served by your butler in the privacy of your own room.

There are 15 individually characterised bedrooms and, for an even more discreet stay - there are 3 exclusive suites each with its own terraced garden and private entrance. The comfortable Drawing Room has deep sofas, a writing desk, wooden shutters and a huge crystal chandelier.

The Howard is one of the finest boutique hotels in Scotland where you are totally taken care of in a traditional and eminently civilised way; a place where you can totally relax and be at home.

In 1996 the rare wall painting above the fireplace was uncovered. The vignette, in the style of Watteau and set in a cartouche of roccoco flowers, urns, and climbing plants, depicts lovers in pastoral surroundings.
